Aminu was born into the family of QS Alhaji Mohammed Bashir and Hajiya Maimuna Zakariyau as the first son in the town of Tsanyawa, Tsanyawa Local Government of Kano State. He started his childhood education in Magwan Special Primary School and later proceeded to Kano Capital School for secondary education. He gained admission into Science Secondary School Dawakin Tofa in 1989 but after a year was transferred to Musa Iliasu College where he finished as the best graduating student of his set.
Aminu obtained admission to study Quantity Surveying in the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. In Zaria, Aminu met a lot of wonderful people in form of friends, classmates and teachers who immensely contributed to making him what he is today. At graduation, he started work with SHEHU GIWA & PARTNERS but later joined MOBAT QUANTS CONSULTANTS in the year 2000 where he rose to the rank of Managing Partner. His passion for continuous learning led him back to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria for postgraduate Masters and Doctorate degrees in Project Management and Quantity Surveying in 2012 and 2019 respectively.
As a consultant Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager in Mobat Quants Consultants, Aminu participated in the delivery of numerous projects for private and public clients amongst which are Redevelopment of Yankari Game Reserve & Wikki Camp, Bauchi; CBN Branch Building, Dutse; Faculties of Earth & Environmental Sciences & Agriculture, Aliko Dangote University of Science & Technology, Wudil, Kano State.
Dr Aminu became a fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors in 2015 and is a registered member of various professional bodies including Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, London and Association of Project Management, UK. He actively participated in the development of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS), Kano State Chapter as General Secretary, Deputy Chairman and Chairman (2007 – 2017); Secretary, International Affairs, NIQS, Abuja (2017-2019), Secretary General of NIQS, (2019-2021) and currently serves as the Deputy President, NIQS (2023 – Date).
Passionate about imparting knowledge, he also lectures as an Associate Professor in the Department of Quantity Surveying, Bayero University, Kano and trains young professionals of contracting organisations in the practice of Construction Contracts Administration and Project Management.
Dr Aminu Bashir enjoys travelling, jogging and reading. He is happily married with children and enjoys an exceptionally invaluable benediction of his parents’ love and prayers.
